Customer relationship management (CRM) is a term that refers to practices, strategies and technologies that companies use to manage and analyse customer interactions and data throughout the customer lifecycle, with the goal of improving business relationships with customers, assisting in customer retention and driving.

Building relationships is one of the most important elements in building a business – whether it’s with an existing customers or a prospect.

Finding a way to manage your customer’s personal information including birthdays, their favourite gifts, food, beverages, hobbies or sports are important information to store away and refer back to when needed.

Knowing this information and referring back to them during conversations will not only impress your customer, making them believe that you remembered their favourite food, beverages or their birthday but also at the same time, your customer will see that you care.

It’s important to keep track of various tasks that you need to do as well as your customer interaction. This will allow you to decide on what actions you need to do to grow your business.

Tasks and customer interactions might include when you last follow-up with the customer, how the follow-up was performed (phone, email or in person), does the relationship need a little bit rekindling, did the customer pick up the  phone or was it a wrong phone number.

These types of information are crucial and are important to keep note. However the general calendar, diary and notepad can be quite difficult especially when you have a lot of information to record and flicking from platform to platform can be very frustrating.

Carrying around a digital calendar, a diary and a note pad can be bulky and cause a lot of confusion – especially when you have customer’s information on multiple platforms.

The best tool that I have come across to allow me to store all this information in one place is called the CRM. Every top earner that I know in our profession (home based business) uses a CRM and every successful company has one in place.
